CENAAD is hosting a two day dysphagia seminar led by renowned US Speech Pathologist Dr Joseph Murray.
Dr Murray is Chief of the Audiology and Speech Service at VA Ann Arbor Hospital, Michigan and author of the acclaimed book 'Manual of Dysphagia Assessment in Adults'. Dr Murray has focused his career on treating older adults with dysphagia and has authored a number of papers around bedside dysphagia assessment, the relationship between dysphagia and aspiration pneumonia, FEES and videofluroscopy.
Dr Murray will be presenting evidence based information about:
- Assessment and management of dyphagia in older adults - Visualising dysphagia using videofluroscopy - The relationship between dysphagia, aspiration and pneumonia. A full two day programme is offered with opportunities to discuss cases and ask questions. Tickets are subsidised by CENAAD funds and include refreshments on both days.

Adult Acquired Dysphagia CEN are pleased to present the first of two evening forums on September 13th, 2017 "Don't bite off more then you can chew" - a Review of National and International Dysphagia Descriptors"
The evening will include presentations from Dr. Ben Hansen from UCL & IDDSI board member on fluid viscosity testing, Louise Borjes RCSLT representative on the IDDSI board and application of the descriptors in clinical practice. As part of the evening forum we are again running a short survey to find out what our CENAAD members are doing in clinical practice with regards to dysphagia descriptors. If you are planning to attend the evening or even if you can't come please do fill this out. The more information will really help to build a picture of what the current state of play is.

The day will feature presentations on dysphagia OM’s, feedback from the most recent CENAAD member survey on using OM’s, real world applications & an opportunity for case discussion. Draft programme to follow shortly. The study day will be held at the 33 Queen Square Lecture Theatre, National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, 33 Queen Square, WC1N 3BG. Catriona Steele - Best Practices in the Management of Oropharyngeal Dysphagia February 1st and 2nd, 2016
The CENAAD committee are very pleased to present Dr. Catriona Steele for a 2 day course on best practices in the management of Oropharyngeal Dysphagia. Dr. Catriona M. Steele is a clinician scientist working in the area of swallowing and swallowing disorders. She has a background as a medical speech-language pathologist, and is Director of the Swallowing Rehabilitation Research Laboratory at the Toronto Rehabilitation Institute – University Health Network. Dr. Steele is a Professor in the Department of Speech-Language Pathology at the University of Toronto and is in demand as a teacher and workshop instructor around the world. Dr. Steele holds research funding from the National Institutes of Health (USA) and has more than 100 peer-reviewed publications. The course cost covers the 2 days of lectures and includes lunch on both days. Please see the CENAAD website in the coming days for the full programme.
